The Poppy Factory

Over the past 30 plus years I have worked with the Poppy Factory, where in addition to making poppies and wreathes each year for Remembrance, also helps thousands of ex-Service men and women with health conditions into meaningful work.

I have had the privilege of meeting and helping many hundreds of veterans, and finding them employment. They tell me what kind of work will make their hearts sing and we work together to find routes to that dream.

Having heard the extraordinary stories of their experiences here and overseas, in some of the toughest environments, I am inspired to live my dream, to write stories about history, creating historical fictional books. I want to open up the pages of history to anyone interested in learning about the extraordinary lives of our recent and long-passed ancestors. Learning by listening to stories is the oldest method used by good teachers, and its no coincidence that our Lord taught the people of the world by captivating their imaginations with his parables.

This is a much better way to learn about history than by memorising dates of kings, gueens and battles, a method which many teachers insist upon.
