Music
Do you like background music when you are working? If so, what kind of music do you like which doesn’t distract you but helps you concentrate. Does Rock, Pop or Garage relax you, or would you prefer Country.
When I am writing I like to have good classical music playing – not the noise of Wagner, nor a frisky Waltz by Strauss Senior or Junior – but the gentle music of say Vaughan-Williams, Pachelbel, Grieg, Debussy or Dvorak – you get my drift!
My favourite piece of all and I am sure many of you will share this preference, is Adagio For Strings by Barber, but it is so powerful it can distract me.
Of course Bach has long been a favourite, as has Handel, Elgar and others. I am discovering more all the time.
