My Writing Plan for 2026

I have now completed my writing plans for 2026.

Amongst many targets, I aim to attend 18 markets of various sorts, including book festivals. My passion is talking about my books and the history they cover, and in turn listening to peoples’ own experiences and knowledge. A conversation will typically start with someone telling me “I had a great uncle who served in Mesopotamia in WW1 and somehow survived the Battle of Kut,” or “My grandfather lost all his mates at Dunkirk” or “My mother was a code breaker, serving at Hendon” (There were many other centres apart from Bletchley).

My reply to the first person. “I also had a relative at Kut. My book From Eden to Babylon covers that history and also describes the Indian Army at that time.

You get the point! I really love talking history and always learn something new and importantly often sell many books. I would much rather market my books like this than spend hours tackling the complex internet selling sites. So dull without human contact.

18 markets is a large number and I very much look forward to meeting old and new readers of my books.

Other targets include 5 talks to local groups of people about the history of my books. 2 are already booked, including my second talk on the history of the Poppy Factory.

I also plan to rewrite and publish From Eden To Babylon (with a new title) and rewrite the follow up to Magnum Opus. It going to be a busy year, working full time on research, writing, and marketing my books.

I would very much welcome your feedback and comments. Do please keep in contact.

Best Wishes for a brilliant 2026
