Hi Readers
Welcome to my October blog. I am now preparing for my talk to the Over 55s Club at St James Church, Cheltenham on Thursday 13th November (I like to prepare well in advance!). The subject is the history of the Poppy Factory in Richmond, Surrey, a charity I have been involved with for over 30 years. The Factory has sent me a power point and I have added some of my own pics. I spoke to this Club earlier in the year about my books and was delighted with the positive response and indeed the queue to buy and sign them! If you would like to attend please let me know and I will contact the organiser.
I plan to attend several markets between now and Christmas and I listed the dates and venues on my previous blog. I always love to meet readers there. The next market is the Suffolks in Cheltenham on 26th October, a wonderful and very popular local community market. We are praying for dry weather as I have a “Toe in the Water” spot without cover. Damp books have little value!
I have finally retired after too many years in Hospitality. I am now a full time writer. After so long I am finding it hard to adjust. In the meantime I am trying to write every day when life doesn’t get in the way. This takes organisation and discipline, two skills I often struggle with! I am getting on with the second book in my Middle Ages series with around 25,000 thousand words written. The first book took me three years to write and I am already one year into the second. I am also trying to rewrite From Eden to Babylon. Not a good idea to have two books on the go at once!
Thank you for reading this. My next blog will be in November 2025.
Best Wishes
Nigel Messenger October 2025.
