The last chapter in Doctors At War is the story of the battle of Kohima. This was fought in India (not Burma) by the British Allied Army against the Japanese, who wanted to occupy India. Many consider that this was one of the fiercest battles of all time, matched only perhaps by the terrible battle of Thermopylae in Ancient Greece.
The Kohima Epitath reads:
“When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today”
